See the bibliography which fully details the published accounts of locomotives and their models. The aim has been to record all commercially available models of British prototype standard gauge traction. Maintenance of the master database is diligently continued. It is rare I encounter a model with nothing recorded. A one volume history of Model Trains from Margate is being written.

See an example of a published piece (without all its illustrations). Much of this research has relied on patronage - rates paid by magazines do not usually cover background research costs. Model Railway History

Robert has made a particular study of the history of UK commercial model railways. Manufacturers from Hornby to MTK are covered in his Locomotive Profiles, Kit Manufacturer Project (jointly undertaken with The Kit Exchange) and BR Standard Coach Model History.

Publication of the first volume in the Kit Manufacturer Project took place in March 2000. Listings have been supplied for the second edition of John Ramsay's British Model Trains Catalogue.
